About this Small Pre Juniper Bonsai, 3 Years Old (Juniperus procumbens 'Nana')
Small stock: a Juniperus procumbens 'Nana' of 3 years, 4 to 5 inches tall, sold as pre-bonsai. At this size the plant is essentially a blank, flexible throughout and a sensible place to practise wiring before touching anything more developed. The dwarf juniper is slow and dense in growth, so several seasons of growing on will pass before a trunk of any consequence appears. It is a hardy evergreen that should spend the whole year in the open, including the winter dormancy the species depends on to stay healthy.
