6 years of growth have given this Juniperus procumbens 'Nana' a 9-inch frame of dense, layered foliage. The dwarf form came originally from Japan and has become the standard American introduction to the craft, largely because it shrugs off conditions that defeat fussier material and keeps going for decades. What sets this one apart is the container: a water pot with a well built into one side that holds standing water, so the planting reads as a shoreline. A fisherman figurine is included to complete the scene. Junipers want outdoor air and open light through the year.
