Seventeen years of growth have produced this 8 by 12 by 12 inch Juniperus procumbens Nana, presented in an 8-inch Aztec orange container of lotus form, which is a less usual choice than the rectangles the variety normally gets. Dwarf junipers out of Japan are hardy and long-lived and tolerate adverse conditions well, and the scale-like foliage on low spreading branches is what most people have in mind when they picture a bonsai. Keep it outdoors in generous light over free-draining soil.
