25 years old and distinctly low-slung, with 13 by 16 inches of spread against just 11 inches of height, which suits the naturally prostrate habit of the cultivar. Juniperus procumbens nana is a dwarf juniper of Japanese origin, the most widely grown bonsai evergreen in the United States and among the most forgiving: hardy, long-lived, and tolerant of conditions that would check other species. The tree has been trained rather than left to its own devices, and it should be kept outdoors throughout the year.
