At 8 by 12 inches this 20-year-old dwarf juniper takes up little bench space, though it still reaches 14 inches in height. Juniperus procumbens nana came from Japan and has become the most widely planted evergreen in American bonsai, a position it holds on merit, since the plant is hardy, exceptionally long-lived, and indifferent to a good deal of hardship. It has been grown in a trained style. Keep it outside all year; junipers want sun on their foliage and a genuine winter to stay in condition.
