About this Juniper Bonsai, Trained, 21 Years Old, 15 Inches Tall (Juniperus procumbens)
21 years in development, 10 by 16 inches across, and 15 inches tall. Procumbens nana is the dwarf juniper brought over from Japan that now anchors more American bonsai collections than any other evergreen. Its scale-like adult foliage takes wiring and pinching well, which is why the cultivar suits trained work of this kind, and the plant itself is tough, persistent and slow to protest at difficult conditions. Like all junipers it is an outdoor subject; a bright, airy spot outside and a cold winter rest are what it asks for.
