About this Juniper Phoenix Graft Bonsai, 25 Years Old (Juniperus procumbens)
25 years old and measuring 12 by 14 inches with a height of 17 inches, this dwarf juniper has been worked as a phoenix graft, the technique also known by its Japanese name, tanuki. Procumbens nana, a low-growing juniper from Japan, is the evergreen most often chosen for bonsai in the United States. It is hardy, it endures, and it tolerates a great deal of adversity. Grow it outdoors in a bright position, as junipers will not accept life inside a house for long.
