About this Flowering Tropical Azalea Bonsai, 9 Years Old (Rhododendron 'Dogwood')
9 years in training and now 13 to 14 inches tall, this azalea carries variegated blooms that combine white and pink within the same flower, the quality that has long made it sought after by collectors. Being evergreen, it holds its foliage the year round; the leaves are glossy and oval, and they mass together into an unusually handsome canopy. It is offered as a tropical azalea for growing indoors. As with rhododendrons generally, an acidic, free-draining medium and steady moisture at the roots suit it best, since the fine root system resents drying out entirely.
