About this Small Flowering Fukien Tea Bonsai, Curved Trunk, 9 Years Old (Ehretia microphylla)
9 years of work have given this Ehretia microphylla the traditional curved trunk, and it now stands 12 to 13 inches tall. The species comes from the Fujian province of China. Small, dark green leaves keep the canopy in proportion with the trunk beneath it. The white flowers, equally small, are not confined to one season and can open at any time; they are followed by red berries that grow darker the longer they hang. Heat is welcome, and the tree grows well indoors.

- 13 in a pot: only zone 13's winter lows of 60 to 70°F (16 to 21°C) stay at or above the 54°F (12°C) it should not stay below for any length of time. In the ground: 10 to 12 (Plants for a Future, quoted by the Hawaii weed risk assessment); a potted tree comes indoors below about 55 to 60°F (13 to 15°C)
