About this Medium Flowering Fukien Tea Bonsai, Curved Trunk, 15 Years Old (Ehretia microphylla)
Ehretia microphylla traces back to Fujian, in China. This 15-year-old specimen stands 14 to 15 inches tall and has been trained in the traditional layered manner over a curved trunk, so the foliage sits in distinct tiers. The leaves are small and dark green. White flowers, also small, are not tied to one season and may open at almost any point in the year; each one that sets becomes a red berry that deepens in colour as it ages. The species enjoys heat and does well indoors.
