About this Small Ficus Retusa Bonsai, Curved Trunk, 6 Years Old (Ficus retusa)
6 years old and standing 10 to 12 inches, this Ficus retusa has been trained into the traditional curved shape, its trunk already heavy for the height. The species, known as banyan fig or Taiwan ficus, bears small dark leaves that alternate along the stems and are more oval than those of Ficus benjamina, on bark shading from grey to reddish and dotted with short horizontal flecks. As indoor trees go it is among the more accommodating, and at this stage the branch structure is still open enough to be redirected as you please.
