About this Chinese Flowering White Serissa of a Thousand Stars Bonsai, Trained, 18 Years Old, 18 Inches Tall
Serissa japonica, 18 years old and trained, at 11 by 10 inches and 18 inches tall. The species is called the tree of a thousand stars for the quantity of small white trumpet-shaped flowers it carries, and this is the northern Chinese form. Its leaves are shiny, green and slightly elongated into a spoon shape, while the branch structure is naturally twiggy and tightens further each time it is sheared. Serissa is grown as an indoor bonsai and does best with steady conditions of light, temperature and moisture rather than frequent relocation.
