About this Large Chinese Flowering White Serissa of a Thousand Stars Bonsai, 15 Years Old (Serissa japonica)
Serissa japonica, 15 years old and 15 to 16 inches tall, long called the tree of a thousand stars for the quantity of small white trumpet-shaped blossom it carries. This northern Chinese form has somewhat elongated, spoon-shaped leaves with a glossy surface. It is naturally twiggy, and shearing tightens it further, building the fine dense structure that suits such a heavy flowering habit. An indoor tree. Serissa generally prefers a settled position and dislikes being shifted about while it is in bud.
