About this Large Flowering Mount Fuji Serissa Bonsai with Raised Roots, 17 Years Old (Serissa foetida)
At 17 years old and 14 to 15 inches, this is a substantial example of the Mount Fuji Serissa. Its roots have been lifted clear of the soil over successive repottings, a technique that lends the base of the trunk a gnarled, long-established look. Serissa foetida is a subtropical evergreen with variegated leaves, imported from Japan, and it flowers heavily in small white stars. It asks little in the way of upkeep indoors and remains forgiving enough that a beginner can take it on with confidence.
