Thirty-two years of cultivation stand behind this Ligustrum lucidum, a compact 12 by 13 by 19 inches on a curved trunk with tiered branching, set in a 12-inch black rectangular container. The species is native to China and eastern Asia and now grows ornamentally across the United States; its berries were used in traditional Chinese medicine as a yin tonic. White puffy blooms come through late spring into early summer. It handles indoor conditions well for a flowering tree.
