About this Flowering Brush Cherry Group Bonsai, Five Tree Forest, 7 Years Old (Eugenia myrtifolia)
Five trees of Eugenia myrtifolia stand together here, each 7 years old at 8 to 9 inches. Also called the Australian brush cherry, it is an evergreen with firm, glossy leaves of a size that keeps a group planting in proportion, and its puffy white flowers come as a bonus rather than the point. Strong light draws red highlights into the leaves, while poor light gives plain green and slower growth. Five trunks of matched age make an even-aged stand, the simplest sort of forest to hold in balance. It is grown indoors.
