About this Large Baby Jade Bonsai, 12 Years Old (Portulacaria afra)
12 years old and 12 inches tall, this Portulacaria afra is offered at a larger size than the usual starter plant. The species, called the elephant bush, comes from South Africa; its pale green leaves are almost round and reach only about a third the dimensions of common jade leaves. Its swollen trunk, branches and foliage double as water reservoirs. Succulents of this kind prefer soil that dries somewhat between waterings. A dependable subject for indoor spaces, at home or at work.
