About this Mikawa Yatsubusa Japanese Maple Bonsai, Trained, 26 Years Old, 23 Inches Tall (Acer palmatum)
26 years old and standing 23 inches tall on a 12 by 15 inch base, this trained Mikawa Yatsubusa asks for little beyond regular watering and an outdoor position. The cultivar's grafted, many-branched habit produces green leaves so closely spaced that the canopy forms one rounded, sculptural body. In autumn it colours red, then sheds and rests through winter, which is normal for a deciduous maple and part of what keeps the tree in condition. Hardiness and simple requirements make it a manageable specimen.
