About this Dwarf Japanese Green Maple Bonsai, 12 Years Old (Acer palmatum)
A dwarf form of the green Japanese maple, 12 years old and 18 to 19 inches tall. The reduced habit suits bonsai work, since leaf size and internode length come down with it while the fine, palmate character of the species remains. It is a hardy and undemanding plant to grow, at home on a patio, on a deck, or set among plantings in the garden. Give it good sun if you want the strongest color, both from the first flush in early spring and again as the season closes. Deciduous, and to be kept outdoors.
Japanese Maple bonsai care
This is a living Japanese Maple (Acer palmatum). Before you buy, this is what it will ask of you:

- USDA zones
- 5 to 8; not every cultivar is fully hardy in zone 5
- Main risks
- Main risks, not ranked by any source: verticillium wilt, which cannot be treated and spreads on tools; drying out, which damages fine roots
