About this Large Japanese Green Maple Bonsai, 15 Years Old (Acer palmatum)
Acer palmatum in its green-leaved form, 15 years old and 18 to 20 inches tall. It is a hardy, undemanding tree, and it belongs outdoors, where a patio, deck or garden position suits it well. Give it sun and the foliage colors best, both in the first flush of early spring and again as the season runs down. Being deciduous, it drops its leaves for winter and spends part of the year showing branch structure rather than canopy, which is much of the pleasure of growing maples.
