About this Large Japanese Red Maple Bonsai, 20 Years Old (Acer palmatum 'Atropurpureum')
20 years old and 14 inches tall, with red foliage. Acer palmatum 'Atropurpureum' is the Japanese Maple everyone knows, its leaves finely divided into narrow palmette-shaped segments cut nearly to the base, much like the fingers of an open hand. The texture it brings is soft and delicate, and it earns its place on a balcony, patio or deck, or in a garden where that quality can be appreciated at close range. The tree is deciduous and should be kept outdoors through the year.
