About this Small Mugo Pine Bonsai, 5 Years Old (Pinus mugo 'Valley Cushion')
A dwarf mugo pine of the 'Valley Cushion' selection, 5 years old and 9 to 11 inches tall. Growth is dense and slow, which is exactly what is wanted in a small pine: branches stay short, needles stay in proportion, and the crown fills in rather than stretching away. Those needles are a deep, dark green and are carried on upright branches all year round. Cold presents no obstacle, the plant being hardy to fifty degrees below zero Fahrenheit, so it stays outdoors through the winter as a matter of course.
