About this Mikawa Yatsubusa Japanese Maple Bonsai, 24 Years Old, 19 Inches Tall (Acer palmatum)
This grafted Mikawa Yatsubusa maple is 24 years old, measuring 9 by 14 inches with an overall height of 19 inches. Growth begins in spring with small green leaves that open close together along short shoots; by midsummer they have knitted into the dense, near-spherical head typical of the cultivar. Late in the season the foliage turns a strong red, and the fine branch structure is left visible through winter. It is a hardy, easily grown maple, best kept outside all year.
