About this Japanese White Pine Bonsai, 35 Years Old (Pinus parviflora 'Bergman')
This Japanese white pine has been developed over 35 years and now measures 29 inches tall across a 17 by 19 inch spread. 'Bergman' is a slow, densely furnished form of Pinus parviflora whose needles curve pleasantly and hold a blue tint; the cones it bears are neither large nor small. Hardy in cold weather, it should be kept outside permanently. Because extension growth is so limited, the established shape changes little from year to year and asks only light seasonal attention.
