About this Japanese Maple Group Bonsai, Three Tree Forest, 8 Years Old (Acer palmatum)
Three Acer palmatum cultivars, red and green together, arranged as a forest group. The trees are 6 to 8 years old and the composition stands 14 to 15 inches tall. Grouping several maples magnifies what makes the species worth growing: finely cut leaf patterns and contrasting color that hold interest across spring, summer and fall, when the display shifts through red, bronze, yellow, green, orange and brown. The planting is deciduous and lives outdoors, dropping its leaves in winter to reveal the tracery of trunks and branches.
