Indoor bonsai care

We don’t have a species care guide for this tree yet, so here is what holds true for any indoor bonsai, start here and adjust as you learn the plant:

Light
The brightest window you have. Insufficient light is the most common way an indoor bonsai dies, slowly, over months, and it looks like nothing is wrong until it is.
Water
Check daily by touching the soil; water thoroughly when the surface is just dry, never on a fixed schedule.
Humidity
Indoor air is drier than any tropical plant likes. A humidity tray helps; sitting in standing water does not.
Temperature
Keep it away from radiators, heat vents and cold draughts from doors.

Read the indoor bonsai guide, how to water a bonsai, and diagnose a problem by symptom if something looks wrong. You can also browse the species we do have care guides for.

Everything this tree needs

Most trees that die in their first year die of the same three things: the wrong soil, a blunt cut, or being left to guess. These cover all three.

Pots and humidity trays

Your tree arrives potted. For a humidity tray under it, or a new pot when it is time to repot, add one to the same order: ceramic, mica and unglazed pots and drip trays.
