Several trunks rise from a single planting in this arboricola schefflera, 4 years old and 9 to 10 inches tall, so the composition reads as a small grove rather than one specimen. It is the tree recommended to anyone inexperienced with bonsai or lacking a green thumb, ranking among the simplest bonsai to keep and staying evergreen with almost no intervention. That adaptability lets it sit happily in a house, an office or a dorm room. In humid conditions schefflera will sometimes push aerial roots down the trunks.
