About this Dawn Redwood 9 Bonsai, Forest Group, 8 Years Old (Metasequoia glyptostrobides)
Nine trees, each 5 to 8 years old and standing 15 to 16 inches, share one container as a forest planting. Numbers on this scale allow real depth: heavier trunks toward the front, slighter ones set behind, so that the eye reads distance rather than a row. Metasequoia glyptostroboides is a true redwood, known first from fossils and presumed gone until living trees were located in Manchuria, China, in the 1940s. The feathery foliage colors and drops in autumn, revealing the structure of the grove. Keep the planting outdoors.
