Three young Ficus benjamina 'Orientalis' planted together as a forest group over lava rock, each about 5 years old, the arrangement standing 9 to 10 inches. The species is a fig from South and Southeast Asia and takes to training readily, building solid trunks, dividing well into branches and holding glossy foliage. It can stay indoors the year round, and the brighter the position it is given, the tighter and more compact it stays. Care is undemanding, which suits a group planting where several trunks have to be kept in balance.
