About this Small Ficus 'Too Little' Bonsai, 6 Years Old (Ficus benjamina)

A 6-year-old specimen of 9 to 10 inches, grown from the 'Too Little' cultivar, a recent miniature form of Ficus benjamina selected for very small leaves and short, congested growth. That habit does much of the work of holding a little tree in scale, as the foliage stays naturally proportionate to the trunk. It is well suited to living indoors and copes with low, moderate or high light, which makes placement straightforward in rooms where a good window is not always on offer. Water once the surface dries and keep it clear of cold draughts.

Weeping Fig bonsai care

This is a living Weeping Fig (Ficus benjamina). Before you buy, this is what it will ask of you:

Indoor / outdoor
Indoor in most climates; outdoors year-round only in frost-free tropical/subtropical zones
Light
Bright, indirect light; tolerates some direct sun once acclimated
Water
Keep evenly moist; let the top of the soil dry slightly between waterings — avoid soggy roots
USDA zones
10–12 (grown indoors elsewhere)
#1 cause of death
Insufficient light plus overwatering, leading to leaf drop and root rot

Soil, repotting, pruning, seasonal work and the full pest and disease list are in our free Weeping Fig bonsai care guide.
