An arboricola schefflera 'luseanne' grown 9 years to a height of 13 to 14 inches, planted in a scalloped land and water pot. This is the tree usually put forward for anyone inexperienced with bonsai or short of a green thumb, being among the easiest of the indoor subjects to look after and an evergreen that asks very little. Its leaflets are tiny and set in the umbrella arrangement the common name refers to, growing densely along the branches. Schefflera copes with lower light than most tropicals, though a bright room keeps growth shorter jointed.

Sources differ: bright indirect light; full morning sun with less afternoon sun; indoors, filtered light, since bright direct sun can burn the leaves; it tolerates dim light but grows better with more
Water
Sources differ: keep the soil evenly moist and never let it dry out; or let the top 1/2 to 1 in (1.3 to 2.5 cm) dry first; never let it stand in water
USDA zones
12 to 13 in a pot: zone 13's winter lows of 60 to 70°F (16 to 21°C) clear the 50°F (10°C) floor of Bonsai Empire, Clemson and the RHS, and zone 12's lows of 50 to 60°F (10 to 16°C) meet it, so bring it in on colder nights there. Bonsai Mirai's floor is lower, 40°F (4°C). In the ground NC State gives 9b to 12b and BCI zone 9b
