About this Hawaiian Umbrella Bonsai Starter Kit, 8 Years Old (Schefflera arboricola)
Sold as a complete starter set built around an 8-year-old dwarf schefflera, the Hawaiian umbrella tree, standing 11 inches tall. The tree arrives already trimmed and planted in an imported glazed ceramic pot. Packed alongside it are annealed training wire for shaping, a textured rock in mixed colours, decorative pebbles to dress the soil surface, a small ceramic figurine and a humidity tray to sit beneath the pot. Schefflera is among the more forgiving subjects for indoor growing, tolerating ordinary room conditions while it puts out its distinctive whorled, umbrella-like leaves.

This is a living Dwarf Umbrella Tree (Dwarf Schefflera) (Schefflera arboricola). Before you buy, this is what it will ask of you:
- Indoor / outdoor
- Indoor in any climate with frost; outdoors only in zones 10–11 or in summer warmth
- Light
- Very adaptable — bright indirect to direct light preferred, but tolerates low light better than almost any bonsai
- Water
- Moderate — let the top 1–2 inches dry between waterings. Leans dry rather than wet; overwatering is the killer.
- USDA zones
- 10–11 outdoors year-round; treat as indoor elsewhere (tolerates brief 9b dips but no frost)
- #1 cause of death
- Root rot from overwatering / poor drainage (compounded by cold, wet roots)
