About this Flowering Podocarpus Bonsai, Curved Trunk, 28 Years Old (Podocarpus macrophyllus)
Podocarpus macrophyllus, 28 years old at 19 by 20 by 28 inches tall, styled with a curved trunk. Known also as Buddhist pine or Chinese yew, it is a dense evergreen whose leaves are dark green, leathery in texture and pointed at the tip, ranged along branches that are stiff and markedly symmetrical. The species is unisexual: male flowers are borne in cones, while the female form is composed of thickened scales of cylindrical shape. The fruit is fleshy, stalked, brightly colored and edible. New growth emerges a pale light green against the older foliage. It is grown indoors.
