About this Flowering Jaboticaba Bonsai, 24 Years Old (Plinia cauliflora)
A 24-year-old jaboticaba measuring 20 by 23 by 24 inches tall. Few trees flower the way this one does: instead of blooming at the ends of the shoots, it pushes small white flowers in tight clusters straight from the bark of the trunk and the older branches, and fruit follows in the same unlikely position. That behaviour is exactly what the botanical name cauliflora denotes. The species is native to southern Brazil and sits within the myrtle family alongside the guava. Five syllables, spoken as spelled. Keep it indoors.
