About this Japanese Boxwood Bonsai, 34 Years Old (Boxus 'Moris Midget')

34 years old, measuring 13 by 13 inches and 16 inches tall, this Buxus 'Morris Midget' is a broadleaf evergreen originating in mountainous parts of Japan. Its small glossy leaves vary noticeably in outline across the plant, running from oval through obtuse to elliptic, which keeps the canopy from looking mechanical. Boxwood accepts clipping well and holds fine twig division, and this specimen has had more than 30 years of such attention. The tree is kept outdoors. Its dense evergreen mass reads convincingly as an old tree even at a modest height.
