48 years in cultivation have given this dwarf English boxwood a base worth displaying, and the roots have been lifted clear of the soil line to show it. The tree measures 13 by 20 inches and reaches 27 inches tall. Buxus sempervirens grows wild in the open woodland and rocky hillsides of southern Europe, and carries small elliptic to oblong leaves, dark and glossy on the upper surface and a paler yellow-green underneath. This is an outdoor bonsai and should be kept in the open air.
