About this Ginseng Ficus Bonsai (Ficus retusa)
Twenty-eight years of growth have given this ginseng form of Ficus retusa a heavy exposed root mass, bulbous at the base and carrying a canopy that reaches 16 by 18 by 28 inches, in a 14-inch brown round drum mica container. Known also as banyan fig or Taiwan ficus, it bears small dark leaves alternating up the shoots, rounder than those of Ficus benjamina, on bark of grey and reddish tones flecked with pale horizontal markings. It remains one of the steadier trees for indoor keeping.
