About this Large Sweet Plum Bonsai, Curved Trunk, 19 Years Old (Sageretia theezans)
Sageretia theezans is a tropical evergreen native to China. Its leaves are under 3/4" long, green and lightly veined, emerging with an almost bronze cast before they settle. As the tree matures the bark sheds and leaves the trunk patterned in several colours. Small pink-white flowers arrive in spring, followed by black fruits of 3 to 5 millimetres through summer and into autumn. This specimen is 19 years old, 12 to 14 inches tall, with a curved trunk. It is a long-standing favourite for indoor growing.

- Bright light; a south/west window with protection from intense direct sun

- Keep the rootball moist — lean wet. Never let it dry out, but never waterlogged either

- Roughly 9–11 (tender; grown indoors over winter in most of North America/Europe)

- Drying out — leaves and twigs desiccate fast and the whole tree can die quickly; also over-watering/root issues
