About this Lime Prickly Ash Bonsai (Zanthoxylum fagara)
Sixteen years of growth stand behind this Zanthoxylum fagara, now 9 by 12 by 17 inches and seated in an 8-inch light green rectangular ceramic container. Lime prickly ash is strongly evergreen, holding foliage through cold that strips most tropical species, and its compound leaves carry distinctive wings along the rachis; crushed, they smell of lime, which is where the common name comes from. The branching is thorny and mounds naturally. Give it a bright indoor position and keep it clear of freezing temperatures.
