About this Small Flowering Tropical Boxwood Bonsai, 4 Years Old (Neea buxifolia)
Neea buxifolia comes from Puerto Rico and belongs to the bougainvillea family; the name is often written as Nia, though Neea is the correct spelling botanically. This one is 4 years old and 5 to 6 inches tall. The leaves are oblong, around 1/4" long, with a rounded tip, and the plant is at its best in the growing season, when new shoots emerge a deep red against the older foliage. Small flowers come in spring and summer. A versatile little tree for indoor growing.
