About this Flowering Tamarind Bonsai, 19 Years Old (Tamarindus indica)

Tamarindus indica began in tropical Africa and has since naturalised around much of the warm world, grown for shade as much as for its edible fruit. Its leaves are bright green, densely set and pinnate, feathery in effect, and the leaflets close up at night. Its flowers are inconspicuous at about an inch across, five-petalled, yellow with orange or red streaking, and carried in small racemes. This tree is 19 years old, standing 17 to 19 inches. It is grown indoors.
