About this Flowering Swamp Privet Bonsai, 16 Years Old (Forestiera acuminata)

16 years old, this Forestiera acuminata measures 11 by 20 inches and stands 17 inches tall, with 9 inches from the soil surface to the top of the tree. Found growing in wetlands throughout the southeastern and central United States, it is a tough native whose habit is open and airy rather than dense. Sprays of yellow flowers come on grey branches, which then fill out with pointed, toothed, yellow-green foliage that holds for the entire growing season. Crushed leaves release a spicy scent. An outdoor tree.
