About this Flowering Surinam Cherry Bonsai, 16 Years Old (Eugenia uniflora)
16 years in training and now 19 to 20 inches tall, this Eugenia uniflora carries paired ovate leaves of deep green on a subtropical evergreen frame. The bark is a particular feature, flaking away in red-toned sheets as the trunk thickens. Small white flowers may appear in spring, and where they set, red edible fruit follows. The species is widely planted in landscapes across the southern United States. This specimen has been trained in the upright manner and performs very well as an indoor tree.
