About this Flowering Sea Grape Bonsai, 13 Years Old (Coccoloba uvifera)

13 years old and 19 to 20 inches tall, Coccoloba uvifera is a member of the buckwheat family and an evergreen that flowers as well. Its leaves are the main event: large, round and leathery, with a red central vein running out from the base, and the whole leaf takes on red coloring as it matures. Its bark is yellowish and smooth to the hand. Late summer brings green fruit around 3/4" across. The species belongs to tropical America and the Caribbean islands, and this plant is grown indoors.
