About this Flowering Dwarf Sweet Acacia Bonsai, 11 Years Old (Vachellia farnesiana)
11 years in training and now 14 inches tall, this dwarf form of Acacia farnesiana comes from tropical America. Its compound leaves divide into very small feathery leaflets of a soft, medium blue-green, so the canopy reads as a haze rather than a solid mass. The stems are slightly rough, coloured a rich chocolate brown to grey, and armed with short, sharp thorns in multiples. Heavy clusters of little yellow puff-shaped flowers open three or four times a year and are strongly fragrant. Suited to indoor culture.
