About this Medium Flowering Bottlebrush Little John Bonsai, 12 Years Old (Callistemon citrinus)
Little John is a dwarf selection of Callistemon citrinus and a notably slow grower, which is part of why this 12-year-old plant stands only 19 to 20 inches tall. The flowers are red, showy and scented, and they come in repeated flushes through spring and summer, continuing into winter where the climate stays mild. Hummingbirds are drawn to them. Its foliage stays evergreen in a dark green tone, dense enough to hold the outline between flowerings. It makes a fine indoor bonsai.
